"We are recording a new album....well 4 actually. There is this set of about 45 new songs that go together in a three part, triple themed record set. When we are done we will start putting them up on Myspace and rotating them weekly. At the same time they will be availible for purchase at all the digital sites....Amiestreet.com, iTunes, etc...If you are REALLY into having your cake and eating it too then for you there will be the option of pre-ordering the full set on VINYL or CD. Our estimated time of arrival is FALL 2008 but, like I said there will be finished music to buy before then so KEEP CHECKING!....ooooh I'm so excited." - bbb

Wheatus are currently working on a new record.

This is the gear they are using.

All Wheatus are MIDI CC'ed through Digital Music Corp. Ground Control pedalboards to change patches on the Digitechs. This enables every song in the set to have unique dynamics, specialized sounds. They also both use Shure wireless transmitters for their instruments.

Brendan has recently begun playing a custom-made Morrissey Fanned Fret acoustic guitar. He runs it through two Digitech 2120 MIDI effects processors, a Boss Harmonist HR-2 pedal, and a Line6 FM4 Filter Modeler.

Matt currently plays a Ned Steinberger CR5 electric upright bass. It runs through a single Digitech 2120 and an Avalon VT-737SP bass pre-amp.

By having separate, pre-mixed patches programmed for each song, it enables the band to perform whole songs live and record them straight to stereo, eliminating the need for album mixing after recording.

Drums

Keys

DrumsWheatus uses Roland V-drums exclusively, hardwired to an Alloy Metals custom-built cabling enclosure. The drums run through three Roland TD20 drum brains, with custom programmed sounds specifically designed for each individual song.

Gerard plays a Nord C1 dual-layer organ and a Nord Stage-88 which doubles as a controller for a Nord Lead. These two keyboards each run through their own Digitech 2120, and run together through an Ashly Line Mixer.

Wheatus do not use any amplifiers; all instruments are run directly into our PA and/or Pyramix recording system. This custom-made Manley Tube mixer combines all of our instruments (and vocals) and produces a complete stereo mix of the band. This can then be played back through the PA system with only mains fader volume requiring adjustment. (Photo courtesy of Manleylabs.com)

Crest In-Ear Mixer
All members of Wheatus use in-ear monitors rather than stage monitors. This gives us a completely quiet stage volume, meaning that without the PA running, the only sound made on the stage would be the acoustic sound of vocals and Brendan's guitar. The in-ear monitor lines run through this Crest mixing console, which allows each band member to customize their individual mix to their liking. For example, if Brendan wants to hear more of his own vocals and less snare drum, he can adjust that in his monitor mix without affecting the main mix coming out of the PA or the monitor mixes of the rest of the band.
