Pop, Songs & Death: Vol. 2 - The Jupiter EP
A final note from Brendan.
Hi Everyone, I'd first like to thank you for your patience and support. There are many reasons Jupiter did not come in on time, but the basic fact is, I overestimated my ability to get it done during a time period that wound up being half the size I had originally anticipated. It's my own damn fault. It all started with a scheduling conflict that pushed my "start mixing" date from April 1 to April 17. Right then I should have postponed, but I wanted to release it so instead I thought I'd simply wake up at 5 am every day, work until midnight and be able to make up the deficit that way...well, that is indeed impossible after all, but I only accepted that after nearly loosing my mind and missing the deadline. I need you to know, all-nighters are bad news, no matter what any one says. There are many other factors in all this, Gracie, my cat & friend for life is gone again and has been missing for 5 weeks now. There is a legal dispute over a substantial sum of money that I am owed for something I worked my ass off on. I cannot go into details on this, but it sucked an enormous amount of time and emotional stamina out of me when I needed it most. There is also a delay with the Teenage Dirtbag Rockband Game having to do with my publishing company. In addition I had an issue with our recording server overheating on a few uncharacteristically hot days in late April which forced prolonged shut down periods. Almost nothing has gone to plan. Amidst all this there have been complications and last minute personnel changes for the tour. Planning for an overseas tour is a nerve wracking, tedious & time intensive business at best. Johanna has had to drop of of the UK-EU leg due to a scheduling problem with one of her other projects and Karlie has had to drop off all together. I am indeed sad to not be touring with my friends Karlie and Jo and wish them the best....we'll work together again I'm sure, but I am happy to announce that Liz Brown, my sister, The Classic, has stepped up and will be doing the UK-EU leg with Dani at her side!!!! Jupiter is a complicated record. It's VERY hard to mix. For those who don't know, I work alone most of the time and entirely solo when mixing. It's not ideal but it's all I can afford these days. I'll get it right in the end but I'm thinking that it will be done in August after I have had some time away from it. I also need to take a look at it in a different light. I have spoken to my old friend Phil Jimenez about a consult...I'm hoping it leads to great things. Speaking of Phil... I know some of you may have heard, but Jennifer Jimenez, Phil's dear sister and beloved member of the extended wheatus clan, was killed in a car accident in early May. There is no real way to relate the profound loss the Jimenez family has had to endure these past weeks. I will be dedicating my work on the Jupiter EP to her memory. She was a bright light in a dim world and a devout wheatus & Easy Anthems fan. Her presence meant it was gonna be a good night for all and that's a fact. She will be deeply missed. So there you have it. The last 4 months in summary....weird, full of curve balls and certainly not what I planned for at all. However, there is always a way to fix things and life will settle down. Jupiter will be released on Blacktop Records and on wheatus.com and it will sound as it should. I'm sorry for the delays. I will try my best to make it worth the wait. The tour is going to be grand. I cannot wait to step on stage after all this craziness. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again. Much love & thanks, |
